Garrett County offers a $7,500 grant to assist eligible first-time homebuyers with down payment and closing costs, administered by Garrett County Government and delivered through the Garrett County Community Action Committee's Asset Development division. Applicants must complete the Pathways to Homeownership homebuyer education course (or equivalent HUD-approved certification) and meet income limits. The grant is commonly paired with first mortgages from local lenders, USDA Rural Development, or the Maryland Mortgage Program.
